Eagle steals Moon

A unique one piece carving representing Human transforming, Moon and Eagle. Red cedar with cedar bark braid.

Back when it was always dark, it was also always summer. Eagle went hunting and came across a powerful Chief known to have the Sun and Moon stored in a bentwood box. When the Chief and his people fell to sleep, the eagle opened the box and the Sun and Moon escaped, giving light to the land, but also taking away much of the heat, which is how Winter came to be.

My name is Kody. I am a Kermode Bear. I live with my family in the remote rain forests of British Columbia. The natives refer to us as Spirit Bear. They believe that Raven, Creator of the World, made one of every 10 of us white as a reminder of the glacial age and so we could bring peace to the World. We are also known as Ghost Bear as we are seldom seen and disappear deep into the forest. If the logging and development continues to destroy our habitat, we may disappear forever!

I need a HUG!
